Finance & Accounting Associate - US Clients

Laya is a modern accounting, tax, and advisory firm for businesses that want predictable monthly closes, decision-ready reporting, and a clear path from accounting to tax and advisory. We pair licensed experts with technology we build ourselves, and we run industry-specific playbooks — from startups and agencies to restaurants, retail, and professional services — so our clients' books reflect how their business actually works. We are a distributed team, working across the US, India, Latin America, and the Philippines.

Work across a portfolio of US small-business clients, from the monthly close to the questions owners ask about running their business. You will keep the books accurate, and you will learn to use them to explain what is happening in a business and what to do about it.

This is an early-career role for people who are strong with numbers and curious about how businesses make money. The accounting is the foundation. The goal is to become the person a business owner calls before making a decision, not after.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bangalore. Success means clean, well-supported closes, reporting that owners actually use, and a growing share of client conversations that you lead yourself.

• Own bookkeeping, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements for your clients, working alongside senior team members.
• Prepare supporting work for business and individual tax filings, and escalate anything uncertain before it reaches review.
• Build the analysis behind client decisions: profitability by customer or service, cash forecasts, budgets, and simple scenario models.
• Prepare monthly reporting that explains what changed, why, and what the owner should watch next.
• Join client calls. Start by preparing and supporting them, and progress to leading them.
• Investigate differences, document your judgments, and make review easy for the next person.
• Turn recurring work into clear checklists, and improve them when a miss reveals a gap.
• Use accounting software, AI, and automation thoughtfully. Verify their outputs and remain accountable for the work.

• Degree in commerce, finance, economics, or a related field, with a strong academic record.
• 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, or advisory. Recent graduates and CA, CMA, or ACCA students with articleship experience are welcome.
• Solid accounting fundamentals: the ability to read a P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement and explain how they connect.
• Strong spreadsheet skills and an interest in business strategy, not just compliance.
• Clear professional English, written and spoken, sufficient to explain numbers directly to US business owners.
• Evidence that you take ownership beyond your assigned work: a project you drove, a model you built, or something you started.
• Based in or able to work hybrid from Bangalore, with a shifted schedule providing meaningful daily overlap with US Eastern time.
