Senior Accounting Manager

Laya is a modern accounting, tax, and advisory firm for businesses that want predictable monthly closes, decision-ready reporting, and a clear path from accounting to tax and advisory. We pair licensed experts with technology we build ourselves, and we run industry-specific playbooks — from startups and agencies to restaurants, retail, and professional services — so our clients' books reflect how their business actually works. We are a distributed team, working across the US, India, Latin America, and the Philippines.

Lead Laya's accounting delivery team and own the quality, timeliness, and clarity of work reaching our US clients. You will develop accountants, review difficult judgments, and build written processes that make reliable delivery repeatable as the firm grows. You report to the CEO and partner closely with customer success and US leadership.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Bangalore. Success means predictable closes, well-supported judgments, a stronger team, and problems reaching leadership and clients before they become surprises.

• Own quality and delivery across monthly close, tax, payroll, and advisory work, with clear owners and deadlines.
• Review complex work, resolve material accounting issues, and ensure another reviewer can follow the evidence and judgment.
• Lead, coach, and develop accountants through specific expectations, direct feedback, and consistent review standards.
• Build and maintain close checklists, review controls, and client handoffs that a new team member can execute.
• Manage capacity and escalations; communicate risks and realistic delivery dates early.
• Track close timeliness, rework, and client issues, and fix the underlying process when patterns emerge.
• Partner with product and operations to adopt useful automation and AI while keeping accountability for every client-facing number.

• CA (India), CPA, ACA, or ACCA; 8+ years in accounting, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Strong accounting, financial reporting, and tax-compliance judgment, with a track record of reviewing complex work and developing people.
• US GAAP and US-facing client experience are strong advantages; willingness to build missing jurisdiction-specific expertise is essential.
• Clear writing and client communication: explain a judgment, give useful feedback, and surface difficult news early.
• Experience turning recurring work into documented processes and managing competing client deadlines.
• Sound judgment about technology and AI, including when outputs need further evidence or review.
• Based in or able to work hybrid from Bangalore, with meaningful daily overlap with US Eastern time. Big 4 experience is useful context, not a requirement; demonstrated judgment matters more than firm pedigree.

USD 2,500–3,500 per month, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated fit for the role. Full-time, hybrid in Bangalore, with working hours of 1:00 PM–10:00 PM Asia/Kolkata.
